MLK New Speech

On this day January 20, 2009, America inaugurates its first African American president. This even is the biggest milestone for our people, but it is not the last. We came from a world filled with shackles, whips, and slavery. Now we are free. Freedom has rung throughout this nation and we took advantage of it. We have many African Americans in professional sports, being role models for everyone. We have African Americans that have a say in the government, and now we have one with the power. We need to take this opportunity and do away with all prejudice that in this nation. There are still racists in our world and we need to show them that they have nothing to hate. We are no different than they are. We cannot let this be the only time an African American becomes president; we must keep fighting to show what we can do. We must make the non-believers believe. Our schools are now fully integrated, our universities and colleges are fully integrated, and our work force is fully integrated. We have a black man learning the same material as a white man. We have a black man earning the same wages as a white man. There is no longer segregation and we need to keep it that way. Racism will never be dead, but it is our duty to try to get rid of it as much as we can. I am proud of this nation and I am proud of the changes that have been made. Now we just need to maintain these changes and continue to make milestone progress like we have today.
