Opportunities for everyone!

In my high school, males and females did have equal opportunities. There were just as many females in the highest level classes than males. Anyone could sign up for any class they wanted as long as they met the prerequisites (which were often met by taken required classes anyway). More girls in my graduating class went on to further their education in non-community colleges and non-state schools than males. The clubs in my school also had equal opportunities for both genders; there are no “male only” clubs and no “female only” clubs. Even sports gave equal opportunities, we had a girl on the wrestling team, she was given the same amount of opportunities to be able to wrestle as the guys. The only difference is that it could be looked at as unequal because she was not as good as the other person in her weight (who was male) so she wrestled less matches. If she were better, she would have wrestled more. In fact, most of the girl’s teams in my high school did better than the boy’s teams. Girls basketball won the state championship in 2007, our girls lacrosse won two district championships (2007 and 2008), the softball team won the league in 2008. In my high school, if you want to take an AP class, if you want to join a club, or if you want to join a sports team, it does not matter what gender you are.
